Flash Fiction Friday- a moment of silence

Every Friday write a short story, poem or prose of
55 words, no more, no less and then report back to the G-man!!

"ever imagine a place so filled
with hope your spirit lifted

close your eyes and breathe in deep
totally grateful for this day you've been gifted

open your eyes to see a clear day
your mind is at ease and all is OK

this moment of silence we pray
for all those who died today"

Here you go G-man!! My favorite sound is that moment of silence we addicts take before and after each meeting. We take that moment together and pray for all those still suffering in and out of the rooms. For those lost souls who died in their disease, for those just about to come into the rooms and for the addict who picked up for the first time today, with no idea of what they are getting themselves into. I am truly blessed today and truly by the grace of God go I. I am really cracking into this 8th step and it is a difficult journey, but one I must take if I am to heal. So I will probably stop by tonight as I cannot sleep with all this in my head and I will give shout outs to those who played tonight. May you all stay safe and be grateful for today, it is a gift that is why it is called 'the present'.

What the heck am I doing up at 2:20 AM?

Like you, my head is filled with many thoughts. I wrote my 55 earlier and it is posted, but as I laid in bed trying to fall asleep another one was taking form in my mind. I finally gave up, turned on the light, and jotted it down. Still no sleep. So here I am commenting on your 55. :)

I love it clean and crazy. I adore "the" moment of silence in meetings. I love any and all moments of silence.

Peace and goodnight.

"this moment of silence" that just makes me remember how close we all are in that moment, no matter where we live. I use that moment to remember all the families who love someone that is hurting. Awesome 55!

Good luck on the journey through the eighth and ninth steps. I too like the sound of my own breathing in and out--silence is pleasant to me now.

How beautifully captured! That's such an excellent 55, and those who didn't make it are so often in my thoughts too.

I loved your last line : my kids are watching Kung Fu Panda as I type this, almost to the part where Oogway will say,
"Yesterday is history. Tomorrow's a mystery. But today is a gift! That is why it is called The Present". Wise old tortoise.
