"Peace starts with a smile."

"Coincidence is when God chooses to remain anonymous."

"God doesn't call the qualified, he qualifies the called."

"God promises a safe landing, not a safe passage."

"The will of God never takes you where the grace of God will not protect you."

"Prayer; Don't give God instructions, just report for duty."

"The task ahead of us is never as great as the power behind us."

Be Grateful for..

"...The teenager who is complaining about doing the dishes, because it means she is at home and not out on the streets."

"...The taxes i pay because it means i have a job."

"...The clothes that fit too snug because it means I have enough food to eat."

"...My shadow that watches me work because it means i am out in the sunshine."

"...The lawn that needs mowing, the windows that need cleaning and the gutters that need fixing, because it means i have a home."

"... All the complaining about the government, because it means we have freedom of speech."

"...The parking spot i find at the far end of the parking lot, because it means i am capable of walking, and i have a car."

"...My huge heating bill, because it means that i am warm."

"...The pile of laundry to wash and fold, because it means i have clothes."

"...The weary and achy muscles at the end of the day, because it means i was capable of working hard."

Flash Fiction Friday- a moment of silence

Every Friday write a short story, poem or prose of
55 words, no more, no less and then report back to the G-man!!

"ever imagine a place so filled
with hope your spirit lifted

close your eyes and breathe in deep
totally grateful for this day you've been gifted

open your eyes to see a clear day
your mind is at ease and all is OK

this moment of silence we pray
for all those who died today"

Here you go G-man!! My favorite sound is that moment of silence we addicts take before and after each meeting. We take that moment together and pray for all those still suffering in and out of the rooms. For those lost souls who died in their disease, for those just about to come into the rooms and for the addict who picked up for the first time today, with no idea of what they are getting themselves into. I am truly blessed today and truly by the grace of God go I. I am really cracking into this 8th step and it is a difficult journey, but one I must take if I am to heal. So I will probably stop by tonight as I cannot sleep with all this in my head and I will give shout outs to those who played tonight. May you all stay safe and be grateful for today, it is a gift that is why it is called 'the present'.

random thoughts

i got these sent to me and i think they are awesome, happy tuesday everyone!!

1. I think part of a best friend's job should be to immediately clear your computer history if you die.

2.
Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you're wrong.

3.
I totally take back all those times I didn't want to nap when I was younger.

4.
There is great need for a sarcasm font.

5.
How the hell are you supposed to fold a fitted sheet?

6.
Was learning cursive really necessary?

7.
Map Quest really needs to start their directions on #5. I'm pretty sure I know how to get out of my neighborhood.

8.
Obituaries would be a lot more interesting if they told you how the person died.

9.
I can't remember the last time I wasn't at least kind of tired.

10.
Bad decisions make good stories.

11.
You never know when it will strike, but there comes a moment at work when you know that you just aren't going to do anything productive for the rest of the day.

12.
Can we all just agree to ignore whatever comes after Blue Ray? I don't want to have to restart my collection...again.

I hate when I just miss a call by the last ring (Hello? Hello? Damn it!), but when I immediately call back, it rings nine times and goes to voicemail. What'd you do after I didn't answer? Drop the phone and run away?

16.
I hate leaving my house confident and looking good and then not seeing anyone of importance the entire day. What a waste.

17.
I keep some people's phone numbers in my phone just so I know not to answer when they call.

18.
My 3-year old daughter asked me in the car the other day "Mom what would happen if you ran over a ninja?" How the hell do I respond to that?

19.
I think the freezer deserves a light as well..

20.
I disagree with Kay Jewelers. I would bet on any given Friday or Saturday night more kisses begin with alcohol than Kay.

i have had such a busy weekend. we had a good time on wes's birthday. we went and picked his mother up yesterday and have had a wonderful visit so far. i have a meeting i am going to tonight. no matter what. i am going to make some goodies today and work on my newsletter and try to get it to the printers as well. busy holiday week ahead, not much time to blog, just an update, i am still going crazy in my head. luckily i am surrounded by a very loving family.

one crazy note, my sister spent about 60 bucks on wes for his birthday and now is hinting that she has nothing for thanksgiving. she hinted to wes not me. i am not sure how to approach this. i think the best thing to do is directly tell her if she wants to bring a ham for thanksgiving that would be awesome, because i have been feeding her family on a nightly basis as she comes over to work on her homework and doesn't cook when she does. i don't think i am asking too much for her to contribute to the dinner. i think i will call her and leave this message for her as i know she was planning for her daughter to come out and she was going to have a big shin dig at her place, those plans fell through after the Fort Hood massacre, they are not letting any soldiers come home for thanksgiving, so my niece is stuck in South Carolina, and they are shipping her out soon.

My computer is having real software of operating system issues. i tried to paste these thoughts in a different font and colors, for fun and when i preview my post it looks real weird. so i will publish it and see what happens. Everyone please have a safe and wonderful holiday, remember there is so much we have to be grateful for today.

today i am grateful for my loving family, my cozy home, my inner strength and humility to wait until i can work an issue out. there is food in my fridge and freezer, i am almost completely out of debt, my bills are paid and i am in fantastic health, i have lost 9 pounds!!! and i am financially secure today. i know a lot of people will be waiting in lines for free food this holiday, that won't be me. i know some people view this as a way of life and others have no choice. i am grateful i have priorities today and know how to spend money. we may not have much left over, but we all have clothes on our backs, clean water to drink, hot water for a shower, a working washer and dryer. today i have some of the most simplest yet amazing luxuries to be grateful for. i am grateful i can appreciate right where i am today, tomorrow may be different, but i know what to do if i need help. for this i am grateful.

what are you grateful for today?

and i will leave you with this thought, hopefully i will make it by to read up on some of my peeps, thanks for stopping by;

Lovely Award

First of all I am very honored by this second award I have been given. Like Lisa, I do not yet know how to post these on my blogs. But hey I figured out the links and I got this picture on my blog so that is progress, and it gives me faith that it won't be long before I can figure the rest out.
The rules are to pick 5 blogs to give this award to, sort of a pay it forward, and in no particular order her are my picks:
Shadow, at 1 Door Away from heaven Part 2
for the wonderful poems and insightful thought provoking way she has with her gift to write. I love to sit and read her poems and slip away for a bit into her fantasy land. Thank you Shadow for your lovely thoughts.
T.T. as she likes to be called, will won't say what those "T's" stand for you can see for yourself at Brand new Year, Brand new Heart
She has such a humorous outlook on life and wonderful thoughts about everyday matters that might not mean so much to the rest of us until we read her lovely blog.
Angel from Here and Now 4 Angel. I really admire her courage to share about the real pains of life and her lovely way of writing it all into some of the most powerful thought provoking poetry today.
Annie from "Hootin Annie's" has a wonderfully uplifting blog, she can take any day and send you down heartfelt memory lane in an instant. Plus she is an Obama gal like myself which I really admire. She has spunk and really knows how to make each day lovely and memorable.
Child is ill from Life as I know it, this is a really new blog up and I believe that she is doing a lovely job posting about recovery and life as she knows it. She is just beginning her journey in the blogging community and I believe she will be a great asset to all of us as time goes by. As for today's thought I had trouble finishing this post and I think it will be twice now that I posted it so without further adieu:
"If you're never scared or embarrassed or hurt, it means you never
take any chances."

Beautiful Day.

Wow what a beautiful day today is!! I am so grateful for such a gorgeous sunrise coming in my window. I really don't like being sick though. Yep, the sniffles. I went to the womens meeting last night and everyone was sick. So I didn't feel bad for being sick in the meeting. You know that is usually a great reason to talk myself out of going. with "A" being sick now Haley has a cough and Gilly has a runny nose and I have the horrible sniffles. yuck.
I am getting real excited though our regional convention is coming up, I have 6 cases of merchandise in my already stuffed garage. Wes wanted me to have a member of the committee store it at their place but I was not going to keep driving around with it in my vehicle. I really don't mind having it I love being a part of service. It really gives me a sense of ownership in the program. I don't just belong to a meeting I belong to this fellowship and it widens my circle of friends so when things go wrong I have a long list of women to call. They in turn feel safe enough to call me. Oh also our annual sleepover is coming up!! This is not an NA event this is for women in recovery. Women in all the fellowships come together for a night without men, kids, or pets and it is so awesome. If you don't have one in your area, start one it is so much fun!!
Anyway my little ones are needing some attention and I would love to be able to write more, but duty calls. I will be checking out and leaving comments on you all after a while, have a great day everyone. Today's thought: Beautiful Day

Procrastination

It's been a while since I last blogged. I am feeling very, overwhelmed these days. I think it is a symptom of "procrastinationism".Working on my 6th step and I have been putting it off just to realize that procrastination is one of my big character defects. I guess with all the other defects I am working on so eagerly I really need to check my motives on why this one hasn't really seemed to be such a problem and the only thing I can think of is that it doesn't hurt as much as the other defects. Life has been so wonderfully busy lately as well that I just haven't sat to the computer unless I am doing service work. I have been plucking away at my regional secretary stuff and I handled the merchandise work that got dropped into my lap for our regional convention. I am working on a flier for the adhoc committee I am heading up to update our area policy. I am getting familiar with InDesign for the regional newsletter that I just stepped up to be editor of. My 2 year old is almost potty trained, my knee feels great I returned the pain meds and only took 3 total. My 1 year old will be 2 on the 15th and my 2 year old will be 3 on the 28th, christmas shopping has been going well we are well under budget and after 6 months I am finalyy going to be replacing my counter tops!!! My kitchen has been under construction for 6 months now and all the indecision has been driving me up a friggin wall!! We finally came to a decision that we would replace the entire kitchen and we finally agreed on a contracter and now I am looking at swatches for my kitchen!!! Life has so many blessings and I cannot believe I would risk losing it to procrastination. Right now I have been procrastinating calling my sponsor to cancel tonights meeting with her to go over some of my sixth step because i am going to be picking my countertops!!! Now my daughter is home so I can go and frame a picture for christmas. Today I am full of gratitude and today I will not forget where I came from. Today's meditation;"Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough,
and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to
clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger
into a friend."
